How to Accept Aging
Determine where your anxiety over aging is coming from. Maybe you thought that by time you were 45 you would have become home owner, traveled world or be in better health than you are. Now is time to decide if these goals are still priority for you. If so, take steps to make them happen. But if not, simply accept that your goals have changed through years and identify what your new life goals are and take steps to make them happen.
Give yourself credit for all that you have achieved. Whether it be career, family, volunteer work, overcoming fear or addiction or anything else that you've achieved or learned from are experiences to feel proud of. If you don't think you've done enough with your life then now is time to focus on future and tackle new challenges.
Talk to friends and family members who are older to see what they did to accept aging. Finding out what they've experienced with aging, both good and bad, can help ease your anxiety of unknown. Develop healthy way of life to more easily accept aging process. Poor health can greatly impede active, fulfilling lifestyle. Eat well, incorporate exercise into your daily life and develop and maintain healthy friendships and hobbies.
Take risks and try new things. This is what keeps life exciting and keeps you looking forward to future, ready to accept new adventures. Travel abroad, learn to play tennis, write book, join club or do anything to expand your experiences and challenge yourself with each passing year to celebrate life.
