Care for 50-Year-Old Skin - Caring for skin, at age of 50 is as much about prevention as it is correct what has already happened. cell turnover is slower than that of time, and skin loses moisture and elasticity. You need to be proactive and use products that moisture to restore to protect your skin from sun and help skin to regenerate, allowing it to repair fine lines and wrinkles.
How to Care for 50-Year-Old Skin
Cleanse twice day, morning and night, with gentle cleanser with non-soap formula. Look for cleansers that are specifically targeted for mature, aging skin as these are most moisturizing. Squirt out dime-sized amount and massage gently into skin. Wet washcloth with warm water and rinse away cleanser by gently rubbing your face in circular motion. Doing so will rinse away your cleanser and also gently exfoliate your skin.
Avoid excessive sun exposure. This can cause skin cancer and will speed up aging.
Moisturize after your morning cleanse with rich emollient cream or serum. Look for facial moisturizers that contain antioxidants such as Vitamin C or peptides and have UVA/UVB protection with SPF 30 or SPF 15 at minimum. Apply all over your face while it's still damp. This is because anti-aging products react better to wet skin.
Moisturize after your nightly cleanse with thick cream that contains retinoids, such as retinol or Retin-A. Because retinoids make your skin extra-sensitive to sun exposure, it's best to apply these at night before bed. Rub gently onto face.
Begin visiting dermatologist as regular part of your routine. At this age it's important to be preventative, not only when it comes to aging, but with health of your skin.
